Good News for Social Security Recipients

Recently, President Trump signed the CARES Act authorizing direct payments of $1,200 for eligible Americans. However, there has been some confusion over whether Social Security beneficiaries who do not typically file tax returns would need to file a tax return in order to receive the payment.

Good news: all eligible Social Security beneficiaries will receive this direct payment.

This week, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that all eligible Social Security beneficiaries, even those who do not typically file tax returns, will receive this payment directly into their bank accounts with no action necessary.

Since the coronavirus outbreak began, Congress and the Trump Administration have been working to ensure every American gets the economic relief they need to get through this crisis. That includes our Social Security beneficiaries.

This is a tough time for our country. However, we will get through this together, and we will leave nobody behind.
