On Fixing Congress’s Funding Process:

Fix The Funding Process: “I’ve been working to fix the funding process for four and half years. This is nonsense. Congress has only funded the government on time four times in the last 45 years. Last year was the first time we finished 75 percent of the funding on time in 22 years. This is a tremendous problem, and we’ve got to fix it. I have a bill that would change the way we fund the federal government. It’s high time we do that. The American people expect that. This is the first thing we have to do to attack the long-term debt problem.”

Consequences Work: “Forty-four states across the country have a balanced budget law. More importantly, they also have consequences if the legislators don’t get the budget done. At the end of their 40 or 45-day legislative period, nobody goes home.”

Congress Is The Culprit: “Congress has kicked the can down the road 186 times in the last 45 years using continuing resolutions, which absolutely handcuffs our military and causes costs to go up dramatically. The U.S. Congress is the culprit. We need to fix this right now.”

Save Social Security & Medicare: “The economy is growing, and that’s lowered the debt curve considerably. Now, we’ve got to fix this budget process and cut redundant agencies. Sooner or later, politicians in Congress will have to deal with the mandatory side of this equation by saving Social Security and Medicare.”

On Attacks In The Gulf Of Oman:

Best of America: “Let’s not take for granted that the U.S. Navy is on the scene. The best of America is out there doing our bidding. This is very serious. We saw four attacks on oil tankers in the last month. We know who is doing this, and it’s time it stops.”

Unlocked Energy Potential: “I do want to point out that the United States could be in a much more vulnerable position from a market and supply point of view had President Trump not removed some of the regulations that were hindering our energy production. The United States is now the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world.”

Aggression Will Not Be Tolerated: “General Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, sent an aircraft carrier and frigates into the Persian Gulf a few weeks ago. We now see why. The tensions are real. Iran has to get the message that we won’t tolerate their aggression. We have free trade around the world because the U.S. Navy secured safe sea lanes across the world.”
