I voted against the massive "omnibus" spending bill.

Friend, I voted against the massive "omnibus" spending bill. Washington has reached a new low. We are six months into this fiscal year and just now voted on funding for the remainder of it. Not to mention, this is after two shutdowns and five continuing resolutions. This is beyond pathetic. This spending bill is not a product that represents everybody. It's a product written by a few politicians who got in a room and decided how to spend a trillion dollars. The result is a massive spending p… Continue Reading

Announcement

Friend, I've been calling out Washington's broken budget process ever since I came to the United States Senate. It is a complete failure and has only worked four times in the last 44 years. Both Republicans and Democrats have acknowledged that the budget process is broken, and now, we are finally seeing some urgency to fix it. Recently, Congress formed a joint select committee of 8 Republicans and 8 Democrats from the House and Senate tasked with fixing the budget process. It was just annou… Continue Reading

Americans Are Not Divided On Immigration

Friend, Here are a few things I thought you might want to know: 1. Americans Are Not Divided On Immigration A CBS poll shows that nearly three-quarters of Americans support President Trump's immigration framework, and he laid out a deal that both parties should have been eager to support. Only Immigration Solution POTUS Will Sign

Our Immigration Plan

Yesterday, a group of senators and I introduced a plan to solve the DACA situation, secure our border, and fix the flaws in our current system that incentivize illegal immigration. The pillars of this plan are all things both parties have supported. In fact, two-thirds of Americans want an immigration solution like the one we've laid out. This morning, I joined CNN New Day to discuss our plan, the Secure and Succeed Act, as well as the President's budget and infrastructure proposals. Watch the… Continue Reading

Let's Make Congress Work Again

In case you missed it... Let's Make Congress Work Again The Hill By U.S. Senator David Perdue February 7, 2018 http://bit.ly/2nJ8Y7C In contrast to our current economic rebound, the United States debt is past the tipping point of a financial crisis. This should not come as a surprise. Even though we are five months into the 2018 fiscal year, Congress has not funded the federal government for this year. Even after this week, Washington still may not get the job done. Our national debt… Continue Reading

President Trump's Immigration Framework

A year ago, Senator Tom Cotton and I started the conversation about a conservative approach to solving our country's legal immigration problems. Now, President Trump has laid out a framework that will resolve the DACA situation and give conservatives what he promised -- a safer and more secure border with a wall, an end to chain migration, and an end to the visa lottery. We all want a good deal, and here it is. When will we ever get another chance to finally build the border wall and end c… Continue Reading
