Direct from David: Stay Safe

Our thoughts go out to the Georgians impacted by these deadly tornadoes and severe storms, especially the victims who tragically lost their lives.

We thank the many first responders, volunteer firefighters, and Good Samaritans who continue to help our communities recover.

Inclement weather is still possible for our area so please remain alert. You can stay up-to-date on severe weather by visiting the National Weather Service website.

In the meantime, these tips will help you and your loved ones stay prepared for severe weather while under a tornado watch.

Good Samaritan shelters are open across southern Georgia. To locate a shelter, contact the local emergency management agency in your county by selecting your county on the map.

Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for the following counties: Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Lowndes, and Thomas.

My team is in touch with the Governor’s office, and we stand ready to do all we can to assist Georgians in need.

Stay safe and God Bless,

David
